Critica needs in Georgia incude increasing access to higher education, supporting economic growth, conserving resources andenerg, providing and retaining quait educators, and meeting thedemand or educated heathcare proessionas. Responding to these needs, Georgia Perimeter Coege pans to expand cassroomand aborator space beginning with its Dunwood Campus.Between now and the ear 2020, the north arc o metropoitanAtanta is projected to experience the argest higher educationpopuation growth. Wide acnowedged as one o the bestpaces to ive in Georgia, the Peachtree-Dunwood corridor, whichincudes the cit o Dunwood, is home to the argest number o corporate headquarters in metropoitan Atanta and aso has theargest concentration o medica and heathcare providers in thestate. Dunwood’s vita business environment, quait o ie, and the reputation o Georgia Perimeter Coege graduates are goodreasons to stud and ive there.Over the past three ears, Georgia Perimeter Coege hasexperienced unprecedented growth as more Georgian’s than ever have pursued higher education. With an enroment approaching25,000 students, Georgia Perimeter Coege is the third argestinstitution o higher education in the state o Georgia and with380,000 aumni is the major pathwa to higher education inGeorgia. This increased demand or higher education is critica or Georgia’s uture and is projected to continue beond 2020.In order to meet this increased demand, Georgia Perimeter Coege has creative expanded the course oerings and aciitiesutiization at a time o decreased unding. However, the use o existing resources has reached the tipping point where enromentgrowth wi be imited without new cassroom aciities and undingor instructiona technoog. Pans to support the increaseddemand or higher education on the Dunwood campus wi ocuson responding to Georgia’s most critica needs and supporting thearea’s demand or educated heathcare empoees, incuding dentahgienists and nurses, with the nowedge and sis the require.Envisioned in two phases, Georgia Perimeter Coege has panned two academic buidings and two paring decs, see fgure 1.1.These structures are designed to be environmenta riend with an emphasis on the use o mass transportation, waing, andbiing. The frst phase cas or a new 120,000 square eet, $28.6miion cassroom buiding with an improved egress to Womac and Ti Mi Roads. The Universit Sstem o Georgia and GeorgiaPerimeter Coege are current competing the design stage andwi be read to enter the construction stage ear in fsca ear 2011.Georgia Perimeter Coege is poised to better serve the growingnumber o students in the Dunwood and North Atanta servicearea b providing high needed educationa programs, advancing the sis o existing empoees, and supporting Atanta’s growingheathcare needs. Expansion o Georgia Perimeter Coege’saciities is critica in meeting the needs o Georgia’s citizens,businesses, and economic growth.
