Watch 2G network costs fall withNokia Flexi EDGEBase Station
Whether building a new network, expandingcapacity or coverage, or modernizing existingGSM assets, the Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Stationopens up new possibilities for radio networks, reducing the number of base station sites,as well as the network’s capital andoperational costs.
Watch 2G network costs fall withNokiaFlexi EDGE Base Station
With the Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Station, operators have aninnovative way to build networks, add GSM capacity andcoverage, or modernize their existing GSM network. Whetherworking in new growth or mature markets, operators canenjoy substantially reduced roll out costs and rapid timeto market, coupled with the exibility to expand capacitylimitlessly to match their growing needs.Built rom compact weather-proo modules, Nokia Flexi EDGEBase Station eliminates the need or bulky, space-consumingcabinets, opening up a wealth o new site types to providecoverage in dense areas. Modules can be stacked on theoor or a shel, they can be fxed on walls or poles, and theyare small enough to be installed in completely new locationssuch as bus stops, kiosk roos and small indoor closets.
The all-purpose base station
Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Station is highly adaptable. Thesame modules can be used to build either macrocellular ormicrocellular coverage. Small or large confgurations arealso possible, rom a 1 TRX confguration right up to 216TRX, indoors or outdoors. This enables operators to use Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Stationto meet all applications and coverage needs, whetherbuilding wide area coverage or rural areas or microcellularsites to provide capacity or hot spots or urban areas.
Flexible capacity in the smallest size
Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Station can be confgured withbetween one and 216 TRX, providing smooth capacitygrowth that matches demand precisely.By using compact modules, Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Stationbrings a new level o exibility or building both outdoorand indoor sites. Furthermore, eliminating the need or acabinet, which is oten quite large, makes Nokia Flexi EDGEBase Station the market’s smallest GSM macro base stationor any capacity. With Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Station, you arenot orced into using a 24 TRX cabinet when you only need a6 TRX base station, or example. The high level o integration enables a 24 TRX NokiaFlexi EDGE Base Station to ft into the same volume as aconventional 12 TRX cabinet. In addition, a 4+4+4 TRXconfguration can be built with a module stack less than 1meter high.
Fewer sites are needed
Available in GSM 800, 900, 1800 and 1900 requency bands,Nokia Flexi EDGE Base Station oers industry-leading radioperormance. A balanced link eaturing high transmit powerand excellent receiver sensitivity helps to create a larger cellsize or greater coverage. There are several ways to boost the base station’s reacheven urther. Nokia Flexi EDGE TRX can be used in doublepower mode, while the base station supports Nokia SmartRadio Concept (SRC), together enabling output power o 200W. The uplink perormance can be improved by using4-way uplink diversity and mast head amplifers. The modular design and small size enables networkplanners to pinpoint better sites or each Nokia Flexi EDGEBase Station. The base station can be installed next to theantenna, avoiding the need or long eeder cables thatattenuate the signal. Nokia also supports operators withplanning services to achieve optimum placement o basestations during network planning. With these measures, the number o sites needed can bereduced by up to 50%, helping to speed up roll out andbringing down radio network costs even urther.
