PREFACE
This General Specification aims to lay down the technical requirements of materialsand equipment, the standards of workmanship, the requirements on testing andcommissioning as well as requirements on document submissions for mechanicalinstallations in Government Buildings of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region(HKSAR).The 2007 edition of this General Specification also comprises emphasis on greeninitiatives, e.g. reduction of construction waste and enhancement of client satisfaction oncompleted projects. This is in line with the department’s endeavour to reduce theenvironmental burden on our neighbours and help to preserve common resources whileimproving the quality of our service.With the benefit of information technology, electronic version of this new edition isto be viewed on and free for download from the Architect Services Department (ArchSD)Internet homepage. As part of the Government’s efforts to limit paper consumption, hardcopies of this General Specification will not be put up for sale.The draft of this edition has been circulated to stakeholders within and external to theGovernment before finalization. Nevertheless, the Architectural Services Departmentwelcomes comments on its contents at anytime since the updating of this GeneralSpecification is a continuous process for the inclusion of any developments that can helpmeeting the needs of our community.
