MikeMcGinniss, Vice President of Emerging Technologies, will move into the newly createdrole of Senior Vice President of Digital Technology Services, reporting to me. The groupwill combine the Emerging Technologies Group (ETG) with some of the resources fromthe Internet Development Group (IDG), and is charged with providing strategictechnology solutions across HarperCollins and supporting our global digital initiatives.The team will work with Chief Digital Officer Charlie Redmayne to develop newtechnologies that align with our digital strategy, and will continue to partner withCorporate IT to address the ever-changing digital technology needs of business.Examples of projects already underway include converting and packaging eBooks andenhanced eBooks for delivery to mobile platforms like the iPhone, Blackberry andAndroid phones; syndicating author and book-related content (video and audio assets) toauthor sites, consumer sites, HarperCollins.com, booksellers and other partners.The Digital Technology Services Group will consist of the following service lines andleadership roles:
Emerging Technologies Group –
ETG will continue to create digital publishingtechnologies and services for our authors and consumers such as mobile phoneapplications. In addition, they will evaluate and improve existing capabilities such asupgrading DAM to handle more audio/video capabilities, enabling us to build new and better book and author products. Rich Rothstein, Vice President of EmergingTechnologies and Steve Lapierre, Director of Emerging Technology Development, willremain focused on this area.
Digital Technology Architecture and Development –
The Digital TechnologyArchitecture and Development team will build the products and services required by anincreasingly digital marketplace, including delivering new websites for online consumer and author offerings, and improving our digital supply chain systems so that we can work better with digital partners like Symtio and Libre Digital.
