The whole process of firmware updates and navigation map takes about 3 hours

1. Updating firmware
If you have firmware version lower than 0031, you need update first to 0031 and then to 0257.
Download needed firmware, extract files and write files and folders to disk or SD-card (better
on the SD-card). Ultimately, on a disc or SD-card should look like this:
for firmware 0031 (file named 8R0906961T 0031)

for firmware 0257 (file named 8R0906961DF 257)

Before update firmware, you need manually exclude Bose from update.
Download file named greenmenu.rar and extract archive to empty SD-card. It should looks
like on the picture below.

After that insert SD-card to your MMI and wait until you see this screen. When you see
it, just press any button (for example joystick) and wait 30-60 seconds.

When you see this screen also press any button.

After this you need to reboot you MMI.


To reboot MMI press SETUP + center button + top right button, hold for 3 seconds and
release.

After you should enter to engineering menu (press for 5 seconds SETUP + CAR) until
you will see green menu.
Scroll down to the item swdl. Press on it.

Choose just one item user defined mode and without rebooting exit from green menu
(press Radio)

After proceed to update the firmware. Insert the disk / SD in our MMI.

1. Hold SETUP+RETURN for 5 seconds

until you will see version of your firmware.

and press Update


2. Select the source from which we will be updated

3. See the firmware version to which you will update and click on it.

4. Choose User defined mode


See Device Selection - a list of what we will and will not be updated.

Find BoseG3_Q7 or BoseG3_ (depends of car model you have) and take every tick off until
there is a letter N near Bose. To do it, you need to enter to this item, and change near all items
to N in all second rows. So, finally near Bose should stand N
This is very important dont forget to make it.
and click Start download

6. Here we have written that the process should not be interrupted. Therefore, it is desirable to
either start the car or connect to additional power supply that would be sure that the battery
does not sit during the firmware. If you are ready - then click Start

7. The update process began. During the upgrade, MMI will reboot. The main thing do not
panic. Update to firmware0031 take about 30 minutes and to 0257 can take up to 50
minutes (depends what firmware version you have installed now).
Keep calm and just waiting!

8. Update completed and we can see the list. In front of each unit must stand either OK or -.
IF SOME ITEMS WILL HAVE NOK please note it and tell me.
Scroll down and click Continue

9. Check the firmware version and see that the version has been updated successfully!
You need to do the same when updating to firmware 0257. When you have updated to firmware
0031, you need to activate green menu again.

And dont forget to exclude Bose again in device selection.

2. Deleting old maps


Before you will install new maps, you need to delete old version of maps. If you do not have
installed maps in your MMI, please follow to next paragraph.
To do it, you need enter to engineering (green) menu.
If this menu is not activated yet, you need to do it.
Download from our links file named greenmenu.rar and extract archive to empty SD-card. It
should looks like on the picture below.

After that insert sd-card to SLOT 1 (the left one) of your MMI and wait until you see
this screen. When you see it, just press any button (for example joystick) and wait 30-60
seconds.

When you see this (second) screen also press any button.

After this you need to reboot you MMI.


To reboot MMI press SETUP + center button + top right button, hold for 3 seconds and
release.

After you should enter to engineering menu (press for 5 seconds SETUP + CAR)

Now you need to find item nav submenu databaseupdate

Choose Delete database (will need reboot)

To reboot MMI press SETUP + center button + top right button, hold for 3 seconds and
release.

After reboot you need to enter engineering menu once again (press for 5 seconds SETUP
+ CAR) again.
Find again nav, sub menu databaseupdate and choose Delete Nav HDD partition

When you see afterwards install navigation database you must reboot MMI.

To reboot MMI press SETUP + center button + top right button, hold for 3 seconds and
release.

After rebooting, you can start to upgrading navigation maps.


To install navigation maps of 2014 firmware of your MMI should be 0257.

3. Installing new maps


Download new maps from our link an extract to 8Gb SD-card formatted in FAT32 format.

New maps in root folder of SD-card should look like this

Now you can insert SD-card to MMI, hold SETUP + RETURN for 6 seconds, until you see
this screen.

Press Update and choose your slot with sd-card.

Choose ROW 5.6.5 (MMI3G)


Choose Standard
Then you will see device list

Just going down to Start Download and press on it.

Choose Start

Here you see that updates must not be interrupted. It means that if you have weak battery, you
should connect an external power supply.
You do not need to have ignition ON all time during maps update. System know that
there is update, and do not shuts itself.
Process will continue, after reboot.

After reboot, update process will start and take about 30-60 minutes.

After, MMI will reboot and you will see Device summary

Going down to Continue

When you press Continue you will see this screen. Press Abort documentation. MMI will
reboot again.

4. Activating new maps


After rebooting you can press Nav and see that new maps will be loaded.
New maps will work approximately 5 minutes and will be blocked.
To activate maps you need activation.
Activation on the empty SD-card. Should look like this

You need to turn on MMI and wait until it will fully booted ( ~3 minutes).
After that insert SD-card with activation to your MMI in SLOT 1 (left one) and wait
until you see this screen (usually it no longer than 10-15 seconds).

When you see it, just press any button (for example joystick) and wait 30-90 seconds.
DO NOT REBOOT OR TURN OFF MMI UNTIL YOU SEE SECOND SCREEN!!!

IT WILL KILL MMI!


When you see this second screen also press any button.

After this you need to reboot your MMI.


To do it, simultaneously press: MENU + Big Knob (joystick) + top right soft button

After rebooting you have working latest navigation maps and saved money. ;))
