The children’s story, “My Blanket,” was completely inspired by my 6-year-old niece and a blanket I made for her. She has such an emotional attachment to this blanket that when it finally was loved to “rags” she was devastated. She’s a natural little story teller and I’m trying to keep her interested in what I believe will be her profession some day; so… We talked about writing a story regarding her blanket and it was hers that was done first Little Kera’s version is attached to the end of this document. As always, I hope you can post comments so that we both can become better writers. Thank you :-) Norma

Hi. My name is Kera and I’m 6-year’s old. Iwant to tell you the story about my favoritething in the world; my blanket. Before I was born I already knew thatI would be a bit scared about sleepingaway from Mommy once I camehome from the hospital.I was still in Mommy’s tummy when Ioverheard Mommy and Auntie Norma planning a party where family andfriends were going to give presents toMommy for me.This is when I first noticed my Auntie Norma. She seemed nice and said shewould make something special for me.They talked about a soft and snuggly blanket that would be just for me tosleep with and, suddenly,I was excited about being born!

When I was in the hospital I cried.I was sad because I missed how nice and softand warm and snuggly it was when I was inMommy's tummy. The Doctors and Nursestried to keep me happy but itwas no use. When I came home,Mommy put the softest, nicest smelling, warmest, cuddliest, andmost wonderful blanket ever createdover me and I stopped crying. As soon as I felt my blanket I knewI would LOVE my blankie forever.Mommy always knewthat I would go right to bedwithout any problemas long as I had my blankie.
