This sample notice to appear at trial and produce documents for California is also known as a notice in lieu of subpoena duces tecum that is used to compel the other party to attend a trial or hearing, and to bring specified documents. This sample is for a civil case but can be modified for use in other California cases. The notice is made pursuant to Code of Civil Procedure Section 1987(a) and (b) and is ONLY to be used to compel an individual to appear and produce documents.
