Executive summary
The objective of the project is to analyse the requirements in terms of interoperability of electronicsignatures for different eGovernment applications and services taking into account the relevantprovisions of Directive 1999/93/EC on a Community framework for electronic signatures and theirnational implementation as well as the report on the Directive and the standardisation activities on theinteroperability of electronic signatures.The goal of this document is three-fold:- identify and analyse the similarities and differences in the use of electronic signatures ineGovernment applications in each Member State both in the legal context, and on the technicalimplementation aspects;- assess the impact of the identified similarities and differences on the interoperability of eSignaturesand hence of the eGovernment applications;- prepare conclusions and recommendations on addressing interoperability issues related to themutual recognition of electronic signatures for eGovernment applications/services.
