Position Description
All Saints’ Episcopal Church is a dynamic urban congregation located in the heart of downtown
Pontiac. We are seeking a quarter-
time Youth and Children’s
Minister to assist the Rector andcongregation in building a program for the young people who are already here as well as theyouth who will ultimately become a part of our church.
Hours
: 40 hours per month, flexible schedule
Salary:
$10,000 annually, (salaried, no benefits)
General Description:
The Youth and Children’s Minister supports the mission of All Saints’,
which is to draw and nurture people into a transforming relationship with Christ and his Church,
by directing All Saints’ middle school and h
igh school youth ministry. This will be accomplishedby demonstrating Christian attitudes toward worship, prayer and service; by creating anenvironment where youth can experience fellowship and develop spiritually; and by helping tobuild trusting relationships within our congregation.The successful applicant will be comfortable working with youth from diverse racial and socio-economic backgrounds.
Specific Responsibilities:
1.
Develop a vision for youth ministry together with the Rector and the youth, settingspecific, measurable short-term and long-term goals.2.
Plan and implement a ministry to young people within the parish.3.
Oversee the faith formation of young people, developing curriculum and planningactivities for middle school and high school.4.
Serve as a liaison with the Diocesan Youth and Young Adult Missioner in order to
facilitate All Saints’ presence at diocesan youth events and activities.
5.
Develop effective tools and practices for communicating with the youth, their families,the Rector and the congregation.
Skills and Qualifications:
1.
Adult (21+) Christian with a passion for their faith and a calling to work with youngpeople2.
Communicant in good standing at an Episcopal or Lutheran (ELCA) congregation.3.
Must have reliable transportation and be able to show evidence of auto insurance andclean driving record.4.
A team player able to build trusting relationships and to work effectively with the Rector,other adult leaders, parents and youth in the development of programs.
