TRANSIT POLICE ASK VICTIM OF SEXUAL ASSAULT TO COME FORWARD

Metro Vancouver Transit Police are asking the young woman who is believed to have been the victim of a sexual
assault on the Canada Line early yesterday morning to come forward and provide a statement.
At 08:30 am, Thursday, March 5, 2013, a woman got off the Canada Line train at Bridgeport Station in Richmond
and advised a Transit Police officer on patrol that she had just witnessed a sexual assault on the train. She also
stated the victim had continued her journey in the train, while the suspect had also gotten off at Bridgeport
Station. She pointed the suspect out to Transit Police who requested he step out of a bus line and provide
identification. As the victim had not been identified, the suspect was allowed to proceed as further investigation
was required. The witness provided police with information concerning the incident and a good description of the
victim. She said that she had told the victim she had seen what happened and noted the victim was visibly upset.
We would very much like to speak to the victim in order to proceed with the investigation and charges. She is
described as an Asian female, 18 to 25 years, 57 tall, slender build, black hair with straight bangs, wearing a grey
wool sweater, black t-shirt, ripped black jeans and carrying a Gucci backpack and a pink iPhone. Please call Transit
Police at 604-515-8300 or if you would prefer to text us, use 87 77 77.
SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING is an established call to action of Transit Police and we would like to commend
and thank the witness for contacting police when she encountered a crime on the transit system. We want victims
to know that we take these incidents very seriously and investigate thoroughly. Our officers are trained to assist
individuals through what can be a difficult process.
