The Tarrance Group is pleased to present the Friends of Kelly Ayotte Committee with thekey findings from a survey of voter attitudes in New Hampshire. These key findings arebased on telephone interviews with N=504 “likely” Republican primary votersthroughout the state. Responses to this survey were gathered January 13-14, 2010 andthe confidence interval associated with a sample of this type is + 4.5%.
KEY FINDINGS
Former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte has a large advantage overthe field in the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate. Ayotte leads all othercandidates by +32 points on the trial ballot test.
Forty-three percent (43%) of Republican primary voters indicate they would vote forAyotte, and only 11% indicate they would vote for Ovide Lamontagne. Bill Binnieand Jim Bender gather only 5% and 3% of the vote respectively, and 37% of Republican primary voters are undecided.
Ayotte dominates this ballot test at every level, leading all other candidates by over30 points in every region and media market of the state. Ayotte leads on the ballottest by +38 points among women, +27 points among men, and by +41 points amongseniors.
Ayotte also dominates the ballot among conservatives, leading all of her other rivalsby +15 points among “very conservative” voters, +23 points among pro-life voters,and by +21 among strong second amendment advocates. Ayotte also leads all of herrivals by +23 points among veterans.
