Advantages of an Apple Tree education…

Learning at Apple Tree is not focused on rote drill and memorization.

We strive to develop students who really understand their work.

We provide a concrete foundation of fundamental knowledge.

We foster study and thinking skills.

We challenge and set high expectations for all our students, not a select few.

Apple Tree students are treated with respect as unique individuals.

We consciously teach children to be kind and peaceful, and to respectthemselves and others.

We are equally concerned for the intellectual, social, physical and emotionaldevelopment of each student.

Thank you to all families who have collected Box Tops for Education. We recently received acheck for $241.50. As a result of the efforts of committee chairpersons and their faithfulvolunteers, we as a community have enjoyed activities such as Juice Blendz, Walkathonfor Science, Harvest Festival, Bagel Breakfast, Barnes and Noble Night, and FamilyBowling. The generosity of Apple Tree families has resulted in over $15,000, being raised to buynew science equipment and to bring science programs into the school. To date $9,000has been spent on science equipment for the school, and programs for each grade levelwill be coming to the school during the months of February and March. The Apple Tree School has been very active in giving back to our local community. The Cooperative Food Bank received $1500 from our Walkathon and the Daily FoodBasket $250, which was raised during the Harvest Festival Cupcake Walk. InDecember the annual Bagel Breakfast saw donations for Children in Distress amount toover $3, ooo. In February the P.E. Department will be participating in the “Jump Ropefor Heart” fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Also during February, ourstudents will be writing and sending Valentine Day cards to the children of Haiti.Thank you for not only supporting Apple Tree and our activities, but also for reachingout to those in the community who are in need. The year is not over so mark your calendars and watch for email updates on theactivities that will take place in the months ahead.
