First and formost, as Gods creation we are created imperfect on purpose. This includes our propensity to out think our creator. Our use of human logic will always fail regardless of a persons academic level/s or a lay persons theories. While we play out our contrived theories for naught, God decides when He will gather His flock and how as revealed in Revelation. The God/human connection of Jesus was fortold in the Old Testament and our destiny is cemented in what Jesus did for mankind at the cross. Those few who choose Jesus are/will be those who will be in the rapture regardless of those who are left behind to be trapped in their own delusions. No human thought will suffice to talk ourselves into eternity. "No one comes to the Father but through Me". Period.
