GREYING BUT GROWING
I
am happy to present a brief report of the special interventions for relief and rehabilitation of the elders in the wake of Tsunami disaster whichshattered the lives of people in the coast. Elders stood helpless in longqueues for assistance and it looked as though the sun set in their lives. thepartnership with HelpAge India family gave a new dimension to the Tsunamiresponse of QSSS. The notable feature of the partnership is the pardigm shiftin elder care. For the first time in the state self help groups dynamics wassuccessfully tried with elders and QSSS had the proud privilege presenting 98Elder self help groups covering 1223 elders.tsunami ravaged village have come alone. Flowers have sprouted. smiles havereturned to the faces of children and the aged. New spring time has come alivewith rainbow colors. and the message HelpAge India and QSSS proclaimresonates “Elders don’t need sympathy, include them in the march to freedomand development
