LAUNCHING OF THE LIBRARY'S WEBSITEAND INTRODUCTION OF OPENBIBLIO ASTHE NEW SOFTWARE
Last January 22, 2007 the Quezon City Public Li-brary launched it's website and introduced theOPENBIBLIO software which replaced its previ-ous contracted software Polerio. Among thosewho graced this momentous event were AttorneyVictoria Loanzon (Special Assistant Secretary tothe Mayor), Councilor Bayani Hipol ( District IV),Ms. Tess Mariano (Head,SSDD), Ms. CharminiaBanal (Chair, Friends of the Library) and a repre-sentative of Ms. Frederika Rentoy (Head, EPWD).The Quezon City Public Library have un-dertaken this shift to advance its opportunity tointroduce significant changes towards what isfresh and current in technology. For the QuezonCity Public Library is in constant pursuit of inno-vative developments in technology and skills toaptly promoteadequate ser-vices in itsworkplace.

QCPL CELEBRATES PUBLIC LIBRARY DAY ANDWOMEN'S MONTH
Last March 9, 2007, the QCPL celebrated two events, Pub-lic Library Day and Women's Month. A GAD Forum, incelebration of the National Women's Month was under-taken in the morning, as the Quezon City Public Libraryinvited Ms. Helen Dabu a social worker from the CoalitionAgainst Trafficking in Women-Asia Pacific to speak on therelevance of R.A. 9262 which is the Violence AgainstWomen and Children. Meanwhile, in the afternoon a Pub-lic Library Day was celebrated to honor donors andbenefactors. The awardees were Ms. Charminia B. Banal,Chair of the Friends of the library and Ms. Blanquita DelBarrio, former City Librarian, both for manifesting their unconditional and unwavering supportto the Quezon City Public Library. Other awardees were C-I Philippines, Manila Bulletin, Bato-Balani, Philippine Bible Society, FNB, National Bookstore, Armando Ang, Bookman, PhoenixEducational Systems, Inc. and the Quezon City Medical Society all consistent book and com-puter donors.
