We should become worshippers of Allaah and not of His creation. Exeggeration and going to extremes in love for them is not from the Sunnah. Indeed I politely ask all Muslims to have a habit of seeking sources and references for their information and not blindly hold onto cultural "norms". And only Allah's Help is sought!
