Description

Ziyarat or Visiting is a pilgrimage to sites associated with the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), or other venerated figures in Islamic history, such as Shi'a Imams or Sufi Saints. It literally means 'meeting'. Sites of pilgrimage include the holy Cities of Makkah and Madina, Mosques, visiting and staying at places of worship important duringthe Umrah and Hajj, graves, battlefields, mountains, and caves etc.

The purpose of it is to fulfil one's religious obligations, to pay homage to the holy personalities in Islam, and to gain Faiz/Blessings from them.

It is particularly essential to do Ziarat of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him before commencing the Umrah and Hajj. See my detailed notes.
