Cast -In- Place - Concrete:General:Description:
1. furnish all labour, materials, tools, equipments, and services for concrete mixing, placing, jointing and curing ,in accordance with provision of contract documents.2. complete co-ordinate with work of other disciplines.3. although such work is not specifically indicated, furnish and install allsupplementary or miscellaneous items, and devices incidental to or necessary for sound, secure and complete installation.
Quality assurance
:a. materials standards : latest issues of related American specifications ,mainly.1. sheet materials for curing concrete ,2. liquid membrane forming compounds for curing concrete,3. preformed expansion joint fillers for concrete paving and structuralconstructions[ non extruding and resilient bituminous types]4. preformed sponge rubber and cork expansion joint fillers for concrete pavingand structural concrete.
Production standard :
Ready mixed concrete,Test method for unit weight of structural lightweight concrete andHot weather concreting.
1.samples of joint materials,2.technical data of admixtures and bonding agents.
Products :Materials :
1.concrete materials and proportioning,2.expansion isolation and control joint filler ,pre-moulded,3.curing compound and4.curing materials.Mixing and production of concrete ready mixed concrete :1. batch ,mix and transport ready mixed concrete in accordance with astm c94 plant equipment and facilities shall conform to check list for certification of
ready mixed concrete production facilities’ of the national ready mixed concreteassociation.
Mixing and production of concrete site mixed
:1.batching :-use scales for weighing concrete ingredients accurate within plus minus04% of their total capacities make standard test weighs available to permitchecking scale accuracy.-Operate batching equipment so that concrete ingredients are consistentlymeasured within following tolerances:Cement +/- 1%Water +/-1%,Aggregates +/-2% andAdmixtures +/- 3%.- charge each batch into mixer so some water will enter in advance of cement and aggregates. Allow water to flow for a period which may extend toend of first 25% of specified mixing time. provide controls to prevent batchedingredients from entering mixer before previous batch has been completelydischarged.
Mixing :
1. mix concrete in a batch mixer capable of thoroughly combining agg., cementand water into a uniform mass within specified mixing time and of dischargingconcrete without harmful segregation. use mixer bearing a manufacture’s rating plate indicating capacity and recommended revolutions per minute operate inaccordance therewith.2. use mixer with a rated capacity of 1 mt3 or large conforming torequirements of plant mixer manufactures.3. Expect as provided below ,mix batches of 1 mt3 or less ,not less than 1minute increase mixing time 15 seconds for each additional mt3 or frictionthere of.4.shorter mixing time may be permitted provided that performance tests madein accordance with astm indicate that time is sufficient to produce uniformconcrete.5. provide controls to insure that batch cannot be discharged until requiredmixing time has elapsed .at least three quarters of required mixing time shalltake place after last mixing water has been added.6.keep interior of mixer free of accumulations that will interfere with mixingaction. Replace mixer blades when they have lost 10% of their original height.
Mixing control of admixtures :
1. charge chemical admixtures into mixer as solution measure by means of anapproved mechanical dispensing device .liquid added shall be considered a partof mixing water . admixtures that cannot be added in solution may beweighed or measured by volume if so recommended by manaufacturer.2. two or more admixtures are used ,add them separately to avoid possibleinteraction that might interfere with efficiency of either admixtures, or adversely affect concrete.3. complete the addition of retarding admixtures within 1 minute after additionof water to cement has been completed ,or prior to beginning of last threequarters of required mixing ,whichever occurs first.
Mixing tempering and control of mixing water :
1. mix concrete only in quantities for immediate use .discard concrete whichhas set.2. when concrete arrives at project with slump below that suitable for placing, water may be added only if neither maximum permissible water cement rationor maximum slump is exceeded . incorporate water by additional mixingequal to at least half of total mixing required. Accomplish addition of water above permitted by limitation on water cement ratio by adding a quantity of cement sufficient to maintain proper water cement ratio.
Mixing weather conditions :
1. hot weather : comply with aci305. cool ingredients before mixing or addflack ice or well crushed ice of a size that melt completely during mixingFor all or part of mixing water if, due to high temp. ,low slump, flash set or cold joints are encountered.Execution :Preparation before placing :1. remove hardened concrete and foreign materials from inner surfaces of conveying equipment.2.complete formwork, secure reinforcement in place, position expansion jointmaterial, anchors, and other embedded items and have entire preparationapproved.
