NAC Chair updates – Jodene
DOT surveys on Park Ave are currently underway.
Update on Delmas Towers – Alex would like to meet with a smaller group to brainstorm or make recommendations to move the project forward. It is noted that anything high is not goingto work.
Jodene has been invited to be on the steering committee for the Green Valley Republic TOD(Transit Oriented Development) proposal on Sunol. It’s been criticized for being way to large,no significant roads, and the transit capacity is just not there to support the proposal.
Minutes from last meeting reviewed.
Sgt Scott Johnson, Raul Razo, SJPD
Update from SJPD around the Delmas area.
Introductions and gave their background within the SJPD, and a local resident.
They are aware of Auzerais and the liquor store on the street as an ongoing issue of peoplehanging out, and possible environment for crime.
When any crime is occurring, call 911…can be graffiti or anything. If the crime as alreadyoccurred, then call 311.
If there is any drug activity, call the drug hotline, and undercover units will observe activitiesaround suspicious homes for unusual foot traffic, etc.NAC members requested to patrol Colombia Ave for drug or loitering activity. There ismention that the undercover units may not want patrols to advertise police presence whilecarrying out surveillant activity in the area, but will partner with them to patrol the area.
Juan Borelli, Planning Dept Sr. Planner
No new development applications.
The pending development rezone use permit for Delmas Park Towers is not yet withdrawn butis recommended to be withdrawn by the San Jose city council.
A second pending conditional use permit to sell alcohol from a convenience store at 394 BirdAve is also recommended to be withdrawn by the San Jose city council, being already over concentrated with local liquor stores, and immediately adjacent to a residential area.
Nothing submitted to planning from Green Valley Republic.
Anna Le, SNI Team Manager
DOT reporting analysis will be rescheduled for the June NAC meeting.
There is a request to re-stripe along Delmas, 100ft north of Park, and between Park and SanCarlos. The NAC members voted against re-striping Delmas north of Park for concern of widthof the street and street parking, but its fine between Park and San Carlos.
