40

Tips for Residents

Plan around construction

Give priority to emergency

vehicles

Avoid traveling during peak

periods

Consider carpooling

Take advantage of
transferable Presto card

Walk, bike, take

transit. Combine them if
your commute is longer.

Embrace technology in the

workplace (e.g.
Teleconference)

Consider alternative work

arrangements

41

Road Safety

Be alert and watch out for cyclists, motorcyclists and

pedestrians

New cycling infrastructure will improve safety for all road

users.

Drive with caution through areas where new infrastructure has

been installed.

If an Emergency Vehicle approaches from behind, slow down, move

over to the closest side of the road, and stop.

Road users must to yield to OC Transpo buses when they signal

their intent to turn or change lanes.

For collisions that do not involve injuries or criminal

violation and where the vehicle is drivable, move out of the
roadway and report to a Collision Reporting Centre within 24
hours.

Road safety is a shared responsibility and all road users need to

do their part.

42

Public Communications

Coordinating efforts with external partners

and stakeholders.

Residents will be kept up-to-date on all

construction and related impacts.

Communications will be layered.

Multiple communications streams.

More information will be provided closer to

changes.
