PATHFIDER OFFICE – DIFFERENTIAL CORRECTION

Differential Correction Wizard


Two files are required for Differential Correction. The first is the .ssf file(s) from
the GPS unit called the ROVER file(s). The Second is the BASE STATION
file(s) that will be downloaded from the internet.

1. Open the Differential Correction Wizard by using the Side Bar Short cut or
from the Utilities drop down menu.

2. Select the + button to add the desired .ssf file(s) for differential correction.
3. Select NEXT when finished.

4. The next screens are the default settings.


5. Select NEXT each.

This is where you download the Base Station files to complete the Differential
Correction process. The goal is to acquire Base Station files closest to where the
GPS data was collected with the highest Integrity Index. To do this:

6. Select> SELECT button next to the BASE PROVIDER SEARCH window.


7. A list of providers will appear.
8. Select > UPDATE LIST

An internet search will commence comparing the GPS location of the .ssf file(s)
relative to the closest Base Station.

To Select the Base Station closest to where the GPS data was collected select
the DISTANCE at the top of the screen and it will sort by Distance.
To Select the Base Station with the highest INTERGITY INDEX select that bar
at the top of the screen and it will sort by Integrity Index.
10. Once you compare Distance vs. Integrity Index select the Base Station
you want to use Select > OK and the Base Station Files will download to
your hard drive.

11. For the Output Folder Select> USE THE SAME FOLDER AS THE INPUT
FILE. This will place the corrected files in the same folder as the uncorrected
.ssf files.

12. For Output Filename Select> CREATE A UNIQUE FILENAME BASED ON


THE INPUT FILENAME. This will retain the original file name adding .cor at
the end of the name to distinguish between what files have been corrected.

13. Select> START to begin the correction process.

14. The correction window will pop up where you can monitor the process.
When finished you will see the Differential Correction Complete message at the
bottom of the window.
