KALILANGAN FESTIVAL PHOTO CONTEST MECHANICS

1.This photo contest shall be governed by the BILL OF RIGHTS STANDARDS FOR PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITIONS (See attached).

The contest is open to all who wish to complete (Film & Digital Cameras)3.Format – includes DIGITAL or FILM photographs.

Entries should be unmounted

8 x 11 color prints

.5.Entries must be candid photos and not posed.

Registration of participants will be open on February 8, 2010 at the GSC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. office.7.The placement of identifying marks, such as names, addresses or any sign to insinuateinformation about the owner of the entry is strictly prohibited.

Registration Fee of P500.00; includes an official Kalilangan Festival I.D. and 10photo entries. Additional photo entries will cost P25.00 each.

Deadline for submission of entries: March 4, 2010.

Judging of the PHOTO CONTEST will be on March 6, 2010.

Awarding of Prizes to winners will be on March 9, 2010 at the office of the GSCChamber of Commerce & Industry Inc.

FESTIVAL SIDELIGHTS –

Exciting events and human interest such as those takenduring the span of the Kalilangan Festival Week happening around the city fromFebruary 22-28, 2010.

•

LAKAN AT LAKAMBINI

– Lakan at Lakambini candidates during the Talent Showand Parade of Festival Costumes on February 20 and the Pageant Night on February 24.

•

QUEEN OF MINDANAO FESTIVALS

– Photos taken during the Pageant Night atRobinsons Place on February 26, 2010.

•

CULTURAL EVENTS

– Three straight days showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Gensan from February 23-25 at the PBA Sports Center

•

STREET DANCING COMPETITION

– Colorful takes on the two street dancingcompetition on February 27 covering the local competititon (Kadsagayan) and opencompetition (Festivals of Mindanao).

Every contest category must have at least a minimum of seven (7) contestants in order to be declared a valid contest. Should a contest category has less than seven (7) contestants,such contest category shall be declared “NO CONTEST” and all prizes allocated shall revertto the Kalilangan Festival Council.

14.

The overall winner judged as the Best Picture in the Photo Contest shall be awarded onlythat amount allocated as its prize. The amount that the entry could have won in his categoryshall be awarded to the next lower winner to elevate all winners in that category one rank higher with its corresponding cash prizes.

Entries must be photos taken from actual events during the KALILANGAN FESTIVAL2010 celebration in General Santos City only.

All entries must be submitted on or before March 4, 2010 with duly accomplished entryforms to the Kalilangan Festival Council located at the office of the GSC Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Inc. at the Yap Mabuhay Building, Cagampang Street, GeneralSantos City. All submitted entries shall become sole and exclusive property of theKalilangan Festival Council and maybe reproduced and/or reprinted into any size for exhibition without seeking permission from the owner or paying compensation for theacquisition of said photos within the period as specified in the attached Bill of Rights.

Owners of winning entries must submit to Kalilangan Festival Organizing Committee thecorresponding high-resolution jpeg copies or negatives of said entries before they can claimtheir cash prizes and trophies.

Judging is tentatively scheduled on March 6, 2010. Winners and their corresponding prizes will be announced appropriately. Awarding will be on March 9, 2010 at the GSCChamber of Commerce & Industry Office.19.The decision of the Board of Judges of the Photo Contest is FINAL andUNAPPEALABLE.20.Prizes are as follows:Best Picture-10,000.00 cash plus trophy2

The Bill of Rights Standards for Photography Competitions

It is accepted that if the rules of a competition meet all the Bill of Rights standards but a third party, a sponsor or publisher for example, fails to apply the rules regarding rights as set out bythe organiser, this does not mean that the contest fails the Bill of Rights. No blame can beattached to the organiser for the failure of third parties to adhere to the contest rules.Regardless of whether or not a competition meets all the Bill of Rights standards, if it is judgedthat the subject matter or theme of the competition may cause offence to some people, the right isreserved not to list the competition on the Rights On List.

Entrants will retain copyright and moral rights in their images. Terms and conditions of competitions must not require photographers entering them to assign their copyright to another party, nor must it be a condition of entry that the photographer's moral rights be waived.Moral rights are to be respected, i.e. the rules should state that images used and published willalways be credited to the photographer, that credit taking the usual form of the copyright notice,i.e . © year nameIf at any stage of a competition an entrant may be asked to sign one or more documents toremain in the contest or to be eligible for a prize, replicas of such documents, or at least fulldetails of the rights they require the entrant to grant, must be displayed on the competitionwebsite terms and conditions pageAny rights metadata present in images submitted to a contest will not be removed, altered, or added to by the contest organisers or sponsors. It shall not be a requirement of the contest rulesthat entrants are to remove metadata prior to submitting images to a contest.

Free Usage

The sponsors/organiser will only acquire limited usage rights for submitted images to any onecompetition. Limited usage rights means they must be non exclusive, and usage is restrictedsolely to promoting the specific competition the images were submitted to, or futurecompetitions where that competition is a recurring one, such usage being restricted to a period of
