their hearts, planting churches, providing medical supplies, digging bore wells and so much more.



What was the key? The key was a Micro Apostle who felt God’s call to a People; the lepers. That MicroApostle gave his life to these people and developed a Macro ministry that had many different expressions meetingneeds in practical ways. When a Micro Apostle focuses on a people, place or passion it opens doors for many other workers to join along with them and see ministry developed.



Micro Apostles have an incredible ability to attract a team of people around them that are passionate. Theyrelease and mentor people who want to accomplish something within that same focus. Here at YWAM San Franciscowe are looking for Micro Apostles. People that want to focus on a territory like Japan Town, Haight Ashbury, NorthBeach, Sunnyvale or Oakland. We are looking for people who want to reach the unreached of the Bay Area; theVietnamese, Afghans or the Indian community. Some time back I was reflectingon the question, “How do you see acity engaged with the gospel?” I waswondering what some of the keyelements are for this to take place.For instance, not one church or onemission can influence the whole city.Therefore it will require churchesand mission agencies to worktogether in unity. Another strategictool for reaching the city is prayer.Without prayer that goes across thewhole city we will never see thetransformation that we dream about.



While I reflected on unity,prayer and other factors thatenhance the spreading of the gospelto a city I also thought aboutanother key factor; Micro Apostles.Micro Apostles are men and womenwho take a specific people, place or passion of the city and begin tochampion that area with their influence.I can think of many such MicroApostles who I have workedtogether with. I remember a youngmarried couple who had a vision for reaching leprosy afflicted people inChennai, India where I lived andworked for many years. They calledme on the phone one day andwanted to move to Chennai becausethey heard there were 35,000lepers living in 16 coloniessurrounding the city. They startedsmall. They start with whatever is intheir hand and start building uponthat. When they started they reallydid not know how God would usethem, but they simply started goingout to visit the lepers. Over the yearsthat couple multiplied into more than50 staff reaching into 52 colonies inone state of India. They started their ministry with cleansing the woundson the feet of lepers and then itgrew to dealing with the wounds in
