FAMILIES CENTERED IN GOD,WITH GRATITUDE AND HOPE
y a happy coincidence, this year theFeast of the Holy Family falls on thelast Sunday of the year. This gives usa further reason to raise our minds and heartsto God in gratitude for the many blessings He has granted our families during the year that is about to end. Although we may not be fully aware of all the blessings we have re-ceived from the Lord, the little we know ismore than enough to bring us to thank Himwith all our hearts, especially through this Eucharistic Sacrifice. This is also the time to entrust our own family, as well as all the families throughout the world, to the protection of the Holy Fam-ily of Nazareth during the new year we areabout to begin. May the Lord be the heart of our family. May we love and serve Him as Jesus, Mary, and Joseph did. May He watchover us as He loved and protected the HolyFamily of Nazareth.

A proclamation from theBook of Sirach
God sets a father in honorover his children; a mother’sauthority he confirms overher sons.Whoever honors his fatheratones for sins, and preserveshimself from them. When heprays, he is heard; he storesup riches who reveres hismother.Whoever honors his fatheris gladdened by children, and, when he prays, is heard. Who-ever reveres his father will livea long life; he who obeys hisfather brings comfort to hismother. My son, take care of yourfather when he is old; grievehim not, as long as he lives.Even if his mind fail, be con-siderate of him; revile him not

Andbe thankful.Let the word of Christdwell in you richly, as in allwisdom you teach and ad-monish one another, singingpsalms, hymns, and spiritualsongs with gratitude in yourhearts to God.Whatever you do, in wordor in deed, do everything inthe name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Fa-ther through him.Wives, be subordinate toyour husbands, as is proper inthe Lord.
