: CHAPTER ELECTIONS: PRESIDENT
I am a great candidate for the position of president of Ohio University’s PRSSA. Bytaking this position for the 2010-2011 year, I would lead the Hugh M. Culbertson chapter into another successful year as one of the best chapters nationwide. I would take eachpresidential role and duty as a top priority and complete each one to the best of myability. While I have not served as an executive board member in the past, I haveleadership experience from other organizations that I can utilize in this position.I have been a dues-paying member since the beginning of the 2009-2010 year andhave participated actively in the mentor-mentee program. My three mentees see me asa source of knowledge in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and frequently ask anyquestions they may have. While my involvement with PRSSA has been limited, I havebeen actively involved with ImPRessions, the student-run PR firm affiliated with PRSSA,since the beginning of my freshman year. I was the head of research and developmentfor the Ohio University Forensics account in 2007-2008, and I was Web master for theDonate Life Ohio account in 08-09. This year, I serve as the account executive for theImPRessions account. In addition to my leadership experience with ImPRessions, I havebeen a resident assistant for two years. This position involves a great deal of leadership, organization and creativity, all of which can be applied to becoming the president of PRSSA. I look forward to the opportunity of using these skills on PRSSA’s executiveboard. The Ohio University chapter of PRSSA operates well and I would like to continuethis legacy of excellence. A few goals I have are to improve members’ attendance andinterest throughout the year by organizing more interactive meetings and socials, as wellas improving the accessibility of executive board members to dues-paying members. Iwould also like to plan a networking trip. PRSSA is a fantastic organization for growth inpublic relations and I would like to expand PRSSA’s ability to teach, to mentor, and toinspire by becoming the chapter president.

RE
: CHAPTER ELECTIONS: PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT
I believe I am the best candidate for the 2010-2011 president of Ohio University’sPRSSA chapter. I have experience serving on the executive boards of other organizations oncampus and through this experience I have developed strong leadership and communicationskills. I also know the time commitment that will be required of me in order to serve my fellowstudents to the best of my capabilities. As a member of PRSSA, I have had the opportunity to network with not only my fellow peers and PRSSA professionals, but with other PRSSA chapter members around the country.Through networking I have come across new activities and ideas to implement within our chapter as we continue to grow. Our students have diverse goals and will travel down different paths in their careers in public relations and I want to make sure that as a chapter we meet theneeds of all of our members through speakers and events. At times it is difficult to satisfy thewants and needs of every student but I am willing to work with any student who is dedicated to preparing themselves for the professional world of public relations and I will work to get theminto contact with the right professionals. As president, I will work hard to make sure that students are aware of and have access tolocal, regional and national networking opportunities. Having gone to the PRSSA nationalconvention this past year, I know and have seen first hand how important it is for students tohave access to these opportunities and networking contacts in order to enhance their skills in the public relations field.I am a proud member of the Hugh M. Culbertson chapter of PRSSA and would like theopportunity to help in its growth as more students become members and as our chapter workstowards national recognition. I feel as though I am the perfect candidate to help our chapter  become nationally recognized while we continue to build a strong PRSSA program here in theE.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
