Texture Assignment
In design, texture is both physical and virtual. Tex-tures include the literal surace employed in the mak-ing o a printed piece or physical object as well as theoptical appearance o that surace. Physical texturesefect how a piece eels to thehand, while virtual tex-tures are optical efects or representations o textures. In may cases, two-dimensional orm uses texture as avisual element that adds richness and dimension towork. Texture can also reer to pattern, which can beused as a background or as a more prominent role. The goal o this assignment is to create patterns ortextures through the interpretation o music anduse those textures to communicate the genre. Thinkabout the physical elements o music you choose(piano, b&w keys, guitars, strings, ribs, hammers, wires, etc.) as well as how the music makes you eel.I you were to show what your avorite genre o musiclooks like, what would it be? What kind o line weightwould you use? What kind o materials would youuse to create that line? Explore the use o repetition, contrast, balance (symmetrical & asymmetrical) andrhythm. Texture and pattern can create an incrediblesense o movement and activity which should reectyour chosen genre.
