The story of wearing a white bridal gown started with Queen Victoria when she got wed in 1840. A woman then, had to used her dress for Court Presentation after marriage, but with a different bodice. Although wedding gowns were not always white. The marriage of Queen Victoria to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha who was also her first cousin created a great influence on weddings than in any other. Queen Victoria changed everything by marrying in white.
