Saturday, April 26 2008. Eight wine judges from different backgrounds spent more than four hours peering, swirling, sniffing and tasting 79 wines made in the Hudson Valley to come up with the best wines produced there. The Fourth Annual Hudson Valley Wine and Grape Association Wine Competition was held at the Brook in Waterland Estate in Dutchess County, NY. The eight veteran judges ranged from wine educators to journalists to a wine-store merchants and a restaurateur. Overall the wines from the 18 wineries that entered scored higher than in the past three competitions, suggesting to all present, a continuing improvement in winemaking for the area.
