The Engineering in the House of The Spider
Dr. Zaid Kasim Mohammad GhazzawiWebsite:www.quran-miracle.comIntroduction:Allah (God) Almighty mentions a lot of His creation in The Quran like thecamel, bees, birds, spider, etc. and the reason for this is for a person toponder and reflect upon these creatures to learn from their creation whatAllah (God) wants him to learn, and to apply this knowledge in his life suchthat a believer would be the teacher of others and not the one on thereceiving end. And such that this knowledge would be a reason for people tobe guided to the path of Allah (God) Almighty.Since Allah (God) Almighty knows that the main theme of our time isknowledge and that knowledge is the common language of people, thus Allah(God) wants to attract people to His book (i.e. The Quran) since he wantstheir guidance and not their torment and the way for this attraction in thisday and age is the miracle of knowledge in the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Mohammad peace be upon Him which means the superiority of theknowledge of Allah (God) in The Quran and the guidance of ProphetMohammad in His teachings over the knowledge of people in this day andage. Thus when a stranger to the religion of Islam sees that he is learningengineering from the Quran then that would be a reason for him to beattracted to the book of Allah (God) and that would in turn lead that person tothe path of Allah (God). In this article I would concentrate on the house of the spider as Allah (God)mentions this house in verse 41 of chapter 29 of The Quran ( The likeness of those who take helpers other than Allah (God) is as the likeness of a spider, who builds a house, but verily, the frailest of houses is the spider's house; if 1

they but knew),such that Allah (God) urges us to ponder upon the house of the spider. This article concentrates on the knowledge that can be learnt frompondering upon the house of the spider.Pondering upon the House of The Spider:Figure 1 shows the house of the spider, such that this figure shows theinspiration that Allah (God) inspired the spider with to build its house.

Figure 2 shows the house of the spider if we model the house of the spiderfrom an engineering point of view.2

Figure 2:
The house of the spider from an engineering point of view.
We notice that Allah (God) Almighty created the house of the spider byplacing links which bear tensile forces, whereas these links extend fromfixation regions to the center of the house and let us name these links by themain links. In addition to these main links there are cross links whichconnects the main ones.If we ponder upon the house of the spider from the guidance of verse 7 of chapter 32(Allah (God) who created everything in an optimal state, and Hebegan the creation of people from mud),we find that Allah (God) perfectedeverything He has created which means from an engineering point of viewthat every engineering system Allah (God) created is in an optimal state. Thebranch of engineering which deals with optimal systems is called: Optimalengineering system and Optimization theory, so by learning these optimalsystems from the Quran a believer would become the teacher of others andnot the one on the receiving end. Thus we can conclude that the house of the spider should be an optimalsystem, and among what this means is the optimal use of matter and energyin the construction and functioning of the house such that we notice thatAllah (God) inspired the spider to build its house in a hollow fashion which3
