Rapid Prototyping (RP) canbe defined as a group of techniques used to quicklyfabricate a scale model of apart or assembly usingthree-dimensional computeraided design (CAD) data.
Developed by 3D Systems of Valencia, CA, USA. Thecompany was founded in 1986,and since then, a number of different RP techniques havebecome available.

The Basic Process
Although several rapid prototyping techniquesexist, all employ the same basic five-stepprocess. The steps are:
1.Create a CAD model of the design
2. Convert the CAD model to STL format
3. Slice the STL file into thin cross-sectional layers
