You harbor all my fears,
kept silent watchman over my desire to live free,
from the restraints which bind my soul,
to the nether world,
untie the nestled ropes which strain,
under the weight of almighty freedom,
beckoning from the heart of your tender breast,
seeking to reach the crowded room,
where lies the reminiscences of youth,
a carefree time to enjoy a meadowed romp,
through sun yellowed haystacks of joy,
an upwelling of emotional happiness,
wanting to wail against the reins which secure
tight your mother's grasp, holding your head
just above the water till your feet begin to sway,
treading just fast enough to remain afloat,
riding the swollen crests with your clan,
never reaching the shore, nor feeling confident enough
to breathe free,
and thus I burden you my child,
with all my fears of this new world
into which you now ride.

Derric Saville added this note
Passing on our knowledge, good and bad, that our kith and kin can take from us the collective learned experiences of us all and not repeat the mistakes we were too carefree not to heed.
