We are now the 13th largest economy in terms o tradevolume thanks to our geographic advantage. One o our major export items is vessels that are mainly sold to EU members such as Germany,France, the UK, and Spain. Cell phones, wireless communication devices, electronics (manuacturedby companies including Samsung and LG), automobile, and steel plates are also popular exportitems. Our main import items are oil, natural gas, electronics, and agricultural products rom theEU, Middle East, and North America. Our goal is to create national wealth through the logistics industry utilizing the advantageouslocation right between China and Japan. To this end, we are developing a business-riendlyenvironment and ostering logistics as an advanced service industry leading the creation o added-value.World-class logistics companies operating in our Incheon International Airport and the PortHinterland Complex o Busan New Port include DHL, Schenker, Tesco, Steinweg, Mitsui&Co., LTD.,Daiei Shipping. They are carrying out successul businesses in the areas o assembling, processing, packaging, and labeling. Currently, the global logistics market that had posted continuous growthin the past is suering rom the recession around the world. However, the economic crisis can beturned into an opportunity to identiy new growth engines through drastic investment strategies. The Korean government is striving to minimize logistics cost and raise business eiciency omultinational companies that have invested in our market. To this end, we are supporting themin various ways such as building inrastructure including hinterland complexes, and oeringincentives.‘Logistics in Korea’ provides guidance to multinational companies on Korea’s logistics inrastructureand investment climate. It is an introduction o Korea’s logistics industry and investment procedureor companies and investors around the world.
