This Technical Note deals with the removal and refitting of the concentric clutch master or slave cylinder
fitted on Espace vehicles with a G8T engine from the fabrication cut-offs listed above.
It is not possible to mix parts from the old and new clutch systems. Check that the vehicle is one of the
fabrication cut-offs listed above before ordering replacement parts for the clutch system.

REMOVAL
Disconnect the battery.
The clutch slave cylinder can only be removed after
the gearbox has been removed (seesection 21 in
Workshop Repair Manual 315).
Disconnect the master-slave connecting pipe by
releasing the clip (2) located on the union (C).
Remove the gearbox.
Disconnect the clutch slave cylinder union (C) by
removing the clip (3).
Remove the three mounting bolts (B) of the clutch
slave cylinder then remove the cylinder.

WARNING: unless there is a fault on the clutch
hydraulic system, perform the special bleeding
described at the end of the document before
removing any mechanical element.

REFITTING
Check the condition of the seals.
Refit in the reverse order to removal.

When refitting, connect the union to the slave cylinder before tightening the three cylinder mounting bolts on the clutch housing to allow the union to be inserted into the bore of the clutch housing at the O-ring.

Torque tighten the three cylinder mounting bolts (B)
(0.9 daNm).
Time allowed for replacing the slave cylinder:5 h

(removing/refitting the PK1 gearbox) +1.3 h for
replacing the ring-shaped slave cylinder (including
cleaning the parts and bleeding as described on
page 37-4).

IMPORTANT NOTE: to avoid damaging the slave
cylinder, do not coat the gearbox output shaft
with grease.

NOTE: to avoid leaks, always replace the slave
cylinder after replacing the clutch mechanism.

VERY IMPORTANT: the clutch hydraulic circuit
must be bled in accordance with the instructions
on page 37-4.
