AR Meeting Notes: January 12, 2010
Guest speaker: Senator Jay TibshraenyHe is hopeful that the legislature can get a sales tax referralout to the voters. Legislative session began yesterday. Youcan see how legislators voted at www.azleg.gov. Jay will berunning for mayor of Chandler for the upcoming year, as histerm is ending. He has been extremely supportive of teachers and education, and CEA would like to gathersignatures to put him on the ballot. Registered MaricopaCounty voters are eligible to sign.

voting for CEA executive board members. There are several positions open for next year. There are sixout of the eight positions up for election: President, Treasurer, 2 Co-Vice Presidents, Corresponding Secretary,and Recording Secretary. Current board members maychoose to run for re-election. If you are interested in running,please email Bob Harpur.
Super Q Committee/Process: 6 members will be a part of Super Q this Spring. In the past, CEA has sent out a survey toemployees to rate which items are the most important forbargaining. During Super Q bargaining this year will bedifferent. The time formerly spent in bargaining will focus onwhere the money will come from to survive the budget crisis. This past year, CUSD faced a 9 million dollar cut. For 2010-2011, we are facing a potential 18-20 million dollar cut. Thenew survey will be used to generate ideas and providefeedback from teachers.
Supreme Court threw out the case that AEA filed against theAZ legislature.
AEA Foundation for Teaching and Learning is offering grantopportunities for members. National Board Certification,
