Inside, the restaurant is sleek and simple and
predominantly white with touches of warm
wooden hues showing through the furniture
and polished floor. The feel is certainly
comfortable and modern. Though the decor
is not traditional, the beautiful, exposed
wooden rafters and thatch on the ceiling
reminds the diner of the restaurant’s link to its
tropical origins.
Set amidst swaying palm trees and
beautifully restored historic buildings,
Thanying is Amara Sanctuary Resort’s
contemporary Royal Thai restaurant.
The best place to dine is probably outside
in Thanying’s newly completed courtyard,

equipment, it is the personal touch and care

that is the children’s dental suites, which are

Best of Singapore
Singapore is a truly global city. With its confluence of cultures, good
infrastructure and relevant expertise, it is an ideal venue for
major international events.
Every September for the past two years, Singapore has revved up
to maximum gear for the Grand Prix. And it is not an ordinary Grand
Prix. Singapore has the distinction of being the only country to have
ever hosted a Formula 1 Night Race. Into its second year, the 2009
Singapore Grand Prix was held at the Marina Bay street circuit and
contested over 61 laps.
Another first for Singapore, related to this event, was the inaugural
F1 Rocks concert, featuring performances by a who’s who of the pop
world – Beyonce, Black Eyed Peas, ZZ Top, Simple Minds, No Doubt,
Jacky Cheung and A*Mei. The event was hosted by Lindsay Lohan.
As for the race, McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton clinched
the championship, followed by Toyota’s Timo Glock and 2008 race
winner Fernando Alonso of Renault in third place.
