To learn and apply the scientific method when confronted with a problem. Create a
word document invitation detailing an upcoming event regarding a presentation on
the scientific method.

Assessment Plan
(What will be done to determine if lesson objectives have been met?)

Students will complete a word document project utilizing the scientific method.
There will be a rubric created to spell out the expectations of the assignment.

Materials:

Computer

Inclusion Techniques for Students with Special Needs:

Students with special needs would have reduced expectations written into their
rubric. They may create a flier in which ever manner is suited to their needs.

Enrichment Techniques:

For enrichment students will complete a short report on their favorite scientist and how that
person utilized the scientific method.

Lesson Differentiation (What modifications/accommodations will be made to ensure that ALL students
have access to and are able to participate in the lesson):

Each student will have the use of the computer lab to complete their assignment, as well as access
to me for any one on one help that is needed.
Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:

This lesson will be introduced as a event for the parents and the students to attend.
The winning flier, as voted on by the students will be used as the official invitation to
the event.

Detailed Teaching Sequence:

• Introduce the material via powerpoint presentation


• Give details on the expectation of the word document assignment
o Students are to create a word document invitation detailing an
upcoming event regarding a presentation on the scientific method

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

Students will be guided through the process of utilizing Microsoft Word to create an
event flier regarding a presentation on the scientific method.
