It helps the DOM to both think strategically as well as act strategi-cally. This is not a model of strategic planning, but how to develop the ability to think strate-gically. The sessions will provide several tools that help the DOM know how to develop theskills and discipline of being a strategic leader. The tools will help the DOM to distinguish be-tween that which is important and urgent and provide a process that helps the DOM determinewhether something is strategic or tactical. With these competencies, the DOM will be able tomaintain a strategic focus for his association.

What does the Bible have to sayabout developing community via small groups? We’re glad you asked! Believe it or not, thereare theological, sociological and organizational proofs that make small groups a desirable andeffective method for discipleship. In this training session, we will investigate these “arguments” and give you practical tools to help you move people into a deeper relationshipwith God, and start a small group initiative in your church(es).

Evangelistic Studies: Growing the Kingdom from the Inside-Out -
Lyle Seltmann
Evangelistic small groups are at the heart of Southern Baptist’s historical growth. Fewer andfewer of the 8-9 million lost in Illinois will come to one of our churches. But, we can go to them.We must go to them! Jesus told us to! This training will equip you with the tools, confidence, andpassion to obey. This training session will answer practical questions when it comes to startingevangelistic small groups. (i.e. How do I start? How do I multiply them? Where do I find leaders? How do I train them? What materials work best? How do I start small groups networks? etc.) sothat you can start the very next day! However, just as Jesus modeled, going out by twos is recom-mended. So, bring your partner with you to the training. Or, plan to train them yourself once youreturn home.
