Welcome to 2010!
E
ditor’s note
We are back from the holidays and ready toresume our storytelling to you, our readers. We hope you had a nice holiday season. AsI write this note for this maiden edition in2010, I recall what an anonymous authoronce said: give people more than theyexpect and do it cheerfully; memorise yourfavourite poem; don’t believe all you hear;spend all you have or sleep all you want;when you say, “I love you”, mean it; believe in
love at first sight.
As we warmly welcome you into anotheryear, we ask that you show love to asmany people as you can. It is this messageof love that our cover story on FelaDurotoye reinforces. Fela has a vision tostart a community project he names “AreaMakeover”. He started last December withthe Mushin Makeover project which had inattendance about 5, 000 volunteers whogave a facelift to Mushin. For more on this,
why not flip over the pages to discover the
painter of slums we found in Fela. In addition,we highlight 29 things you must do this year just as we share with you why some people
keep or find it difficult to keep New Year
resolutions. On Fashion & Lifestyle, Lola Ogunbadejopredicts new trends that will rock the UKfashion scene this year while also OdiriEtireri highlights creative styles to watchout for in 2010. And we have a new Sportssection where we ask the pertinent question:
‘will the Super Eagles fly?’ as the World Cup
commences. Of course, this edition will beincomplete without the regulars: “Let Me
Tell You About Men” and “Let Me Tell YouAbout Women”, “Career & Development”,
“the Mysterious Shopper”, “the Shop” andthe Health section among others. Why notmake it a date with us again next month when
we shall celebrate another season of love?
Remember to put a smile on someone’s face
this month. Happy New Year!
