Recital Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our 2010 “Spice Up Your Life” dance recital.Below you will find information about the types of positions available and the requirements for all volunteers.

Class Moms:

Class Moms assure that each child in her care is safe and accounted for. They are responsible for making sure that each child is in the proper costume, has the proper accessories and shoes, and is backstage at theappropriate time. They are also responsible for seeing that all children return to the Dancer’s Den aftertheir performance. For costume changing purposes, we only have female helpers as Class Moms.

Picture Day:

Help keep the day organized.

Flower Sales:

Arrange and sell presentation bouquets at the theater.

Ticket Sales:

Work with a BGDC staff member to sell any extra tickets at the door.

Usher:

Escort ticket holders and distribute programs. Open doors for intermission and make sure doors do not open while performers are dancing onstage.

Recital Clean Up & Setup:

Help clean up after the big event.

FAQ’s

Q. If I volunteer to be a class mom will I get to watch my child perform?

A: Yes. We will have a spot

backstage

that you can watch from. It is a great view from the side of the stage. We do ask that you do not move from this spot until the class has finished performing. We suggest that you and your performer come and watch another recital. It is a great experience for your dancer to watch others doing what they did that day as well!

Q. What if no one from my child’s class has volunteered to be a class mom?

A: We hope that this will not happen! If you think your child might have some difficulties waiting to perform, we suggest that a family member volunteer backstage. This will help your child do the best they can on their big day!

Q. Can I volunteer for a recital other than my child’s?

A: Absolutely. In fact we consider this to be ideal so that you can sit with your family during your own child’s recital. Weappreciate everyone’s help! So, why not swap with another class and help make this happen!

Q. Will I receive compensation for my time?

A: No. We will not be giving anyone free tickets or money for their time. That’s why it’s called volunteering! But all of the staff at BGDC will love you for it!
