THE EARTH, OUR PLANET

The Earth is our planet. It is called the Blue Planet because approximately 70 % of
the Earth is water and 30 % is land. The highest point is Mount Everest. It is 8.848 m
high. The lowest point is the Dead Sea. It is 422 m below sea level. The Earth is
made of chemical elements. For example, oxygen, aluminium, iron, sodium,
magnesium, etc.
But the Earth has got problems. Humans throw away lots of rubbish. And rubbish is
dangerous for the Earth because it needs a lot of time to decompose. Look at some
examples. Plastics and aluminium can take 500 years. Organic materials , cotton,
rags and paper take 6 months.
