The mission of The Libraries is to advance the educational, research, clinical care, and communityservice programs of the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio by critically appraising, selecting,and organizing health sciences information and by facilitating and maintaining access to theseresources for the faculty, staff and students of the UT Health Science Center and for the South Texascommunity.

The Libraries are leaders in promoting health information access, evaluating resources, andencouraging resource use to meet the dynamic needs and challenges of the UT Health ScienceCenter and the South Texas community. The Libraries realize this vision by providing:
Essential resources for teaching, learning, research and decision making;
Innovative information and instructional services;
Knowledgeable, service-oriented, and professional staff;
Versatile facilities responsive to evolving educational culture; and
Effective collaboration with educators, students, researchers, health professionals,administrators, community members, and other health information stakeholders.
The UT Health Science Center Libraries strive to achieve their mission and vision by workingtoward goals that will advance the education, research, clinical care, community service, andorganizational effectiveness of the UT Health Science Center. Goals for 2010-2013 include thefollowing:
To expand The Libraries’ role in the university’s educational mission by promoting qualityinformation in an environment conducive to learning;
To support the discovery and exchange of knowledge to advance the university’s researchmission;
To provide resources and services that advance clinical knowledge and informed decisionmaking;
To promote access to quality health information for the South Texas region; and
To manage a customer-oriented environment that is effective, efficient, and fiscallyresponsible while fostering a learning environment for all.
