GRADING
for
LEVELS
We will be doing our assessment forlevels on
FRIDAY the 9th of April,2010. This is the last Friday of theEaster School Holidays.
If you are interested in grading, youmust let us know by the end of theterm, so that we can assure there isenough time for each student!
You will need to pay $25
on the dayof assessment, which will cover thecost of your appropriate uniform ($15 for the top and $10 for thepareu).You will be assessed using a pointsystem, which will then determinewhich of the starting three levelsyou will be placed in. Each level willhave it’s own color & you will knowwhich level you have placed in onceyour uniformorders are in! Themore you know and can show usproperly, the higher you will mostlikelyplace!
CURRICULUMHawaiian, Tahitian, Samoan, Maori
•You need to have an overallknowledge of your basics•You will need to sing / chant•You will need to show us howmany routines you know•You will be scored on your dancetechnique as well as stagepresentation and confidence•You must explain the meanings /translations for your routines•Be able to show examples of handactions to represent particularwords (foreign or english)•You must give us the properdefinitions for your basics***You don’t have to KNOWEVERYTHING, but the more youknow the morepoints you willaccumulatetowards yourscore!
IMPLEMENTS
If you would like to learn Hawaiianimplements in Friday’s classes, youMUST ensure you order them beforethe SECOND TERM! You do NOThave to order implements, but will be unable to participate in thissection unless you have your own! If you already own some of theimplements, you do NOT need topurchase those particular items. Thelink and information for ordering ison PAGE 4. You will be orderingfrom Aloha Hula Supply in Hawaii.Some girls have been fundraising toraise enough money to purchasetheir implements this term &Tahitian Costumes by the end of next term! If you need help thinkingof a fundraiser, we are more thanwilling to help you with ideas. Also,we will be the first to support youon your fundraisers. We havealready had the Williams’ family sellRaro Donuts (YUMMY) and littleLeilani is selling her HeilaniDesigner Shoes (VERY COOL)!

This month we will be visiting our favorite elderly home, Arcare Aged Care in Logan!They are already excited that we are coming and we love to put a smile on theirbeautiful faces!Harris Fields (where we do our PACE program) are having a huge FREE communityEXPO this month and our PACE students as well as our Heilani students will perform!
