Global business models are changing rom simple one time revenue streams to more complex billingarrangements - this is occurring not only in sotware but also in a wide range o diferent industries.All o these changes create highly increased complexity or vendors and heightened demands on theirbusiness systems - especially when it comes to billing and payment processes. In this paper, we willarticulate ten questions that companies should ask o themselves and their prospective providers o subscription and billing services in order to accurately determine which solution will meet their needs,now and into the uture.Te ten questions can broadly be separated across two main axes - one axis being operational and theother being revenue generation.

Te operational questions
 How long will the billing product take to implement? 
Te rate o change in business is rapidly increasing. Customers demand new products, new product mixes and new ways o purchasing those productson an almost daily basis. At the same time, in many industries the barriersto entry or new companies are alling which also increases the demands onsubscription and billing services to keep up with changing dynamics.Given this situation, we can see that whatever billing and subscription systema company uses, it needs to be able to be implemented rapidly and readily within the organisation.Part o this implementation is the ease o integration between anorganization’s existing systems (website, back oce systems, customerrelationship management system etc) and the billing system. A billing systemthat includes application programming interaces (APIs) and client librariesto enable interaction with other sotware will allow much morerapid implementation.Another reason to consider outsourcing subscription and billingunctionality to an external party is one o cost. By outsourcing a billingsystem the business is able to to “pay as they go” and they thereore amortizethe cost o this part o their business over time.
