Troy Grays is a ten year old boy who was in anautomobile accident on Thanksgiving Day, 2009,that resulted in severe head injuries and a brokenneck. He will have to wear a neck brace for the restof his life, and also cope with the problems fromthe head injuries.Troy lost his two sisters in the accident and isgoing through some very hard times in his younglife. His mother is a single mom, who not only isdealing with the pain of losing two daughters, andher son’s severe injuries, she also is facing hugemedical bills.
 A benet dinner and auction will be held on
Saturday, April 24, at the Trufant Complex in Tru-fant. Donations are needed for the auction. If youhave any outdoor items, household items, gift cer-

Perfect Day for Winter Fun on the North Country Trail
The members of the West Michi-gan Chapter of the North Country Trail Association had a beautiful day of winter fun at the Loda Lake Wild-
ower Preserve on Saturday February 
20th. The weather was perfect - warmsun, mild temperatures, and no wind. After starting the day by enjoying deli-cious pastries with fellow participants,it was time to strap on snowshoes orcross-country skis for a delightfulhike around Loda Lake. At the end of the scenic and sunny trek it was back to the Birch Grove Schoolhouse, theChapter’s base in Newaygo County located a few miles north of WhiteCloud, for more good food and enjoy-able company.

CARSON CITY – Bob Milne, designated a “nationaltreasure” by the Library of Congress, will dazzle the audi-ence with an evening of “Ragtime and Early Jazz” in the beautiful entrance lobby inside Carson City Hospital onFriday, March 19, at 7 p.m.This unique event is a fundraiser for the Carson City-Crystal Area Schools Foundation (CCCASF), with proceedsused to purchase education supplies and enhance facilities
in order to benet the students and the community of Car
-son City-Crystal Area Schools. Milne performed in Carson
City to benet the CCCASF last year, as well.
“The hospital lobby is a fabulous venue for a perfor-mance like this,” said CCCASF member Jennifer Churchill.“The baby grand piano is already right there in the lobby,and will be professionally tuned that day by local piano builder Alex Kapetyn for this special performance. It’s re-ally going to be a fun evening out.” An extremely popular, highly regarded concert pianist,Milne started out as a young saloon player in the DakotaInn Rathskeller in Detroit. “I’m just a saloon piano player!”Milne has said, despite his world-wide accolades, including being designated a “national treasure” in 2004 by the Li- brarian of Congress, Dr. James Billington. Milne has beenfeatured on the Ragtime page in the Library of Congress’“Music, Theatre and Dance” section, where interviews withMilne and a video of his Library of Congress concert arefeatured.“Bob Milne has been named a Musical Ambassador by the U.S. State Department, traveling to places such as Japanand Ireland, and performing for the President of the UnitedStates in 2007,” said Churchill. “He’s also produced piano re-cordings, composed ragtime and classical music, and writtenseveral books.
