found that 77 percent of Americans agree they"can make a positive difference by purchasing products fromsocially or environmentally responsible companies and are activelyseeking information to verify green claims”. The report furtherstates that “consumers are most likely to turn to consumer reports(29%), certification seals or labels on products (28%) and the list of ingredients on products (27%) to determine if a product is greenand does what it claims”.According to Peter Rundle , Sustainability Manager, Greener ProductLLC “ it is vital that architects and contractors are able to quicklyand easily find sustainable and healthy building products that meetthe sometimes complicated LEED rating system”. In many cases theLEED rating system requires that products have third partycertifications (TPC) in order to meet these standards.“We believe it is important that before any product is listed on theGreener Productweb platform the respective environmentalattributes have to be independently verified according to third partyorganizations or LEED supporting documentation. Furthermore it isessential that information is reliable, credibility and preferablybased on testing results from internationally recognized certificationorganizations” concluded Rundle. TheGreener Product’s search tool, powered by the Greener Product
proprietary software,is anonline service that allows buildingproduct manufacturers to “tell their green story” directly to 100,000LEED APs, 200,000 architects and 5,000 of the most influentialarchitectural companies.
