St. Caesarius of Arles

What does it mean “take up a cross?” It means he will bear with whatever is troublesome,and in this very act he will be following me. When he has begun to follow me accordingto my teaching and precepts, he will find many people contradicting him and standing inhis way, many who not only deride but even persecute him. Moreover, this is true, notonly of pagans who are outside the church, but also of those who seem to be in it visibly, but are outside of it because of the perversity of their deeds. Although these glory inmerely the title of Christian, they continually persecute faithful Christians. Such belongto the members of the church in the same way that bad blood is in the body (Cf. 2Pet 2:1-3). Therefore if you wish to follow Christ, do not delay in carrying his cross; toleratesinners, but do not yield to them. Do not let the false happiness of the wicked corruptyou. You do well to despise all things for the sake of Christ, in order that you may be fitfor his companionship.

Ukrainian parish

of Holy Wisdom invited us to participate in short presentation of byzantine liturgical prayer during month of May (May 2, 16, 23).Together with Knights of Columbus and Holy Wisdom parish, we will organize prayer of the Moleben (short prayer service) to the Most Holy Theotokos. We are looking for people to help with singing, if interested, see cantor Gene Ford, we’ll have to meet to practice few times. The event will take place at Christ the King Retreat Center in CitrusHeights (6520 Van Maren Lane), on Sunday at 3:30 PM, outdoors – good way to spendafternoon with kids. You can invite friends and family.
