Add –ly to an adjective to form the adverb: quiet → quietly; perfect → perfectly
Change the - y into - i and add - ly to an
adjective ending in - y: busy → busily; happy → happily Drop the final - e of adjectives (that end in - e) and add ly: terrible → terribly; possible → possibly
Add - ally to adjectives ending in – ic:
logic → logically; tragic → tragically Andjectives ending in – ly Thereare adjectives ending in – ly. Don’t mistake them for adverbs!
friendly → She smiled in a friendly way.
lively → She danced in a lively manner. Other examples: lovely, lonely, ugly, deadly, chilly, womanly, curly, silly, etc. She is wonderful. She seems nice. She got angry. This hot dog tastes good.
