EFECTO ANTIOXIDANTE Y HEPATOPROTECTOR DE LA FRAGARIA VESCA (FRESA) Y DEL APIUMGRAVEOLENS (APIO) EN RATAS
We seeked to determine the hepatoprotective effect of Celery (
) and Stawberry (
) extracts in rats with Acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity.
Materials and Methods:
T he experimental study was conducted in anatmosphere of the universidad nacional federico villareal, was used 40 male holtzmanalbino rats (2 months), pc 280 g.The rats were randomly distributed among 5 groups, with8 rats per group. All groups had the same nutritional and water intake; medication wasadministered daily during 5 days in the following manner: paracetamol (200 mg / kg) toinduce liver toxicity and at the same time, a hepatoprotective, yafuera pharmacological(FHP Purinor) or natural (Celery or strawberry), moreover, a single paracetamol groupand a control. At the end of the experimental period, serum samples were obtained bycardiac puncture;
and dissected animals’ livers. We studied the serum levels of alanine
-aminotransferase (ALT), and a histopathologic study was made.
showed a better hepatoprotective effect tan HPD against paracetamol’s nocive effect, as
evaluated by AST (p<0,05, p=0,03) and ALT (p<0,05, p<0,10) serum levels. Showed theexistence of statistically significant difference among all groups.
Weobserved a hepatoprotective effect in both Celery and Strawberry-based extracts; theStrawberry extract could have a better hepatoprotective profile than Purinator®.KEY WORDSStrawberry, celery, hepatoprotectivedrugs; acetaminophen; antioxidants; toxicity.
