Februarysaw a decline in the number of homes sold here inBuncombe County. I believe the weather was a major factor inthis. Most people will not go out and look when the weather isbad. On the positive side activity in the market has increasedsignificantly. There is no good indicator of showing activity that we can display, only the talk amongst each other to gaugeshowing activity.

The first time was in the early 2000's as youngerpeople started moving into the area and West Asheville providedless expensive housing solutions as well as a great retail center to work with. As prices escalated in West Asheville rehabilitationslowed. Over the past 6-8 months West Asheville seems to bebooming while other parts of the area are slow. At least twonew restaurants have opened and homes there are beginning toattract first time homebuyers.Look for this area to lead the way to Asheville housing recovery.
