Duff and the crew at Charm City Cakes have a style and personality more suited for rock stardom thanrunning a specialty cakes business. With that in mind, we decided to capitalize their non-traditional
attitude through three different approaches that all utilized a narrative VO by Duff. The rst approach
goes behind the scenes to discuss how power tools and pastry go together, the second captures the‘rock ‘n roll’ attitude of these eclectic cake decorators, and the third ties directly into our ‘House ofCards’ approach through a playful, tongue-in-cheek sensibility.There are three ingredients present in our concepts to a lesser or greater extent.1. Concept 1: House o Cards
With a name like Ace of Cakes it’s hard not to use a card metaphor, so we didn’t resist temptation and built atowering cake of cards. Duff naturally holds the winning hand in this enterprise and ends up king of the castle.ScriptMy name’s Duff And I’m not just a jack of all treatsI’m the Ace of CakesYou want something 10 feet tall?Hanging from the ceiling?Or shooting bottle rockets?Piece of cakeSo pick a card...any cardWith this crew by my sideThe deck is always loaded And if not?Don’t worry...Cause I’ll have an ace up my sleeve.
